Meditation for Teens: Tension Melting

When you have an anxiety problem, you often experience a lot of tension in your body.

Our muscles are primed to have a fight/flight/freeze response, meaning that they feel it’s necessary to be tensed. Your muscles are trying to protect you! But instead, they’re wearing you out.

If you’re always tense, and always ready to fight someone, run away, or freeze and clam up, it can feel like your body is in charge of you - rather than you feeling in charge of your body.

If this feels familiar to you, you need a good toolbox. One filled with lots and lots of coping skills.

If you’re ready for some deeper work, you can check out my book, When Anxiety Makes You Angry!

It’s packed with empowering strategies that give you lots of options for cognitive coping, mindfulness skills, problem solving strategies, and identifying how anxiety can be a real problem for you.

In this self-help book written specifically for anxiety-driven anger, I delve REALLY deeply in to all the different coping skills you can use to manage your overwhelming emotions.

But my favorite cluster of relaxation specific activities is MINDFULNESS and meditation.

This week, I’m sharing a new tension melting guided meditation.

Listen below, and feel free to download!

Do I need teen therapy/does my teen need anxiety therapy?

Meditation is a great tool for anxiety management, but it doesn’t mean you have to just deal with anxiety on your own. You can always reach out to a therapist or counselor to talk more about your anxiety, figure out what else is going on underneath it, and build a really robust coping skills tool box, including meditation.
