Play Therapy-Focused Child Therapist and Teenager Therapy
When kids and teens face big emotions like anxiety, depression, or struggles at school, it can feel overwhelming—for them and their parents. As a therapist specializing in child-centered play therapy, I provide a safe, sacred space where children, adolescents, and young adults can feel heard, understood, and respected. Through play, art, and conversation, I help them explore their emotions, build resilience, and develop the skills they need to navigate life’s challenges.
Using play therapy to help kids communicate in a way that makes sense to them.
As a play therapist in training at Compassionate Counseling St. Louis, I work with kids as young as 3, as well as teens and young adults, helping them tackle anxiety, depression, and school-related struggles.
My approach blends non-directive and directive interventions, creating room for clients to express themselves freely while also learning practical skills to manage their emotions and behaviors. I love that play therapy interventions can help kids communicate in their own unique way, while also uncovering what’s really going on beneath the surface, and creating space for growth and resilience.
My journey to becoming a therapist started during my time in the Peace Corps.
I served in Belize from 2018 to 2020. Working closely with children showed me how complex childhood can be. Kids face so many challenges—from peer conflicts to feeling a lack of independence—and often don’t have the tools to manage those emotions. Witnessing these struggles and the limited access to behavioral health resources inspired me to pursue a career in social work.
Building warmth, trust, and safety within in the therapy office.
At the core of my work is the belief that a strong therapeutic relationship is essential. Trust, safety, and warmth are the foundation of every session. When kids feel secure in this relationship, they have the freedom to explore their feelings, build resilience, and develop confidence in themselves.
